A Guide in Choosing an LCD Projector - Features to Look for in this Audio Visual Equipment

If you are in need of audio visual equipment, it is highly possible that the first thing you will look for is an LCD projector. LCD projectors are some of the most commonly used types of AV devices, since these are ideal for presentations, meetings, conferences, and seminars. Before you rent or purchase one though, it is crucial that you know how to select the right equipment.

To help you out with your search, here are the most important features that you need to look for and inspect when choosing an LCD projector:

  • Contrast – This is the ratio of the blacks and the whites (brightest and darkest) produced by the projector. A ratio of or above 400:1 should suffice. Most LCD projectors now offer 500:1 contrast ratios or even higher.
  • Lumens – The lumens value of the projector will determine how bright the projected images are. The higher the value is, the better the quality of the images will be.
  • Lamp Life – While the lamp of LCD projectors do not need to be replaced as often as those in overhead projectors, make sure that you still consider this as an important factor.
  • Resolution – This is the number of pixels that the device displays. The higher the resolution is, the better the quality will be.
  • Video Compatibility – There are three major types of videos that the projector you will choose should be compatible with. These include NTSC, SECAM, and the PAL videos. You may also want to go for a projector that is compatible with HD videos, especially if you really want the best quality during your presentation.
  • Audio Support – If you want a projector that will perform all of your audio visual needs, then make sure that the one you will get provides audio support. This will come handy in cases wherein the venue you will be presenting in does not have a ready external audio source.
